Fire Safety
Our Commitment to Your Home
What Causes House Fires?
Kitchen Hazards
Cooking left unattended or grease buildup on hobs are the leading causes of fire in the home.
Electrical Overload
Plugging too many appliances into one socket or using faulty wiring can lead to electrical fires.
Unsafe Heat Sources
Candles placed near curtains or space heaters positioned too close to furniture and clothes.
How to Prevent Fire in Your Home
Test Smoke Alarms Monthly
Press the test button on your smoke alarms every month. Never remove batteries and contact us immediately if your alarm is not working properly.
Cook with Care
Always stay in the kitchen when cooking. Turn off all appliances and hobs as soon as you have finished preparing your meal.
Check Your Electrics
Avoid overloading sockets and unplug electrical devices like chargers and heaters before you go to bed or leave the house.
Keep Exits Clear
Ensure hallways and fire escapes are always free of obstacles. A clear path is vital for a quick exit during an emergency.
Plan Your Escape
Make sure everyone in your home knows the escape route. Keep spare keys in a reachable place and never block doors or windows.
Safe Heating & Candles
Keep heaters at least one metre away from curtains or furniture. Always blow out candles before leaving a room or going to sleep.
Helpful Tip
If a fire starts, stay calm and get out immediately. Close doors behind you to slow the spread of smoke, call 999 once safe, and never go back inside for any reason.
