Damp & Mould
Our Commitment to Your Home
What Causes Damp & Mould?
Condensation
Warm, moist air meets cold surfaces like windows and walls, creating water droplets that can lead to mould growth.
Leaks
Water entering through roofs, windows, or plumbing issues can cause persistent dampness in walls and ceilings.
Poor Ventilation
Without fresh air circulating, moisture from cooking, bathing, and breathing builds up inside your home.
How to Prevent Damp & Mould
Open Windows Regularly
Let fresh air circulate through your home for at least 15 minutes each day. Even in cold weather, brief ventilation makes a big difference.
Keep Furniture Away from Walls
Leave a small gap (around 10cm) between large furniture and cold external walls to allow air to flow and prevent moisture buildup.
Wipe Away Condensation
When you see water droplets on windows or tiles, wipe them away with a dry cloth. This simple daily habit prevents mould from forming.
Use Extractor Fans
Always use extractor fans when cooking or showering, and keep bathroom and kitchen doors closed to stop moisture spreading.
Keep Your Home Warm
Maintaining a consistent, gentle warmth (around 18-21°C) helps prevent cold surfaces where condensation can form.
Don't Dry Clothes Indoors
If possible, dry clothes outside or in a well-ventilated room with a window open. Tumble dryers should be vented outside.
Helpful Tip
Even small daily actions can make a big difference in preventing damp and mould. A few minutes each day keeps your home healthy for years to come.
